The iNITIator-062 provides 0.062" of travel and over 5 pounds of latch-release force using 0.010" High Temperature Nitinol wire. The extremely light weight initiators are intended for applications where a high-reliability, extremely light weight, and highly compact actuator is required to release a loaded spring – including drone release systems, or high pressure cylinder piercing systems, for example.
Tip to tail, the iNiTiator-062 is 1.91" long x 1.37" wide, and the very thin profile is maintained by using a Superelastic Nitinol wire bias spring. The PCB is 0.062" thick.
The iNITIator-062 weighs just 0.22 ounces, yielding a force:weight ratio exceeding 400:1.
The iNITIator product line can be customized easily for longer stroke or even higher forces as required.
Repeatable high speed (~80 ms) releases can be performed using 7.4v LiPo batteries.
